wrong meds

I went to the pharmacy a couple days ago to pick up my Risperdal. I didn't open that bottle for a couple days until yesterday. When I opened it , there were little white caplets. Hmmm there had been oval yellow tablets before. I looked on the label and it said "oval yellow tablets with **** printed on one side and **** printed on the other side" That was not what I had in the bottle, so I took them back to the pharmacy. The pharmacy was very serious and said I had been given "Synthroid" a thyroid medication and he replaced it with what I was supposed to have and made an incident report. I've taken Synthroid before so I know it wouldn't have hurt me but that is still a very serious mistake for a pharmacy to make.

Geez! Talk about a big mistake on the pharmacys part. Glad you caught on to that. Risperdal isn't something you want to just go off of, especially with synthroid as the replacement ;-)

Hope you are doing well Raine, just wanted to drop by and let you know you were being thought about. BTW, my internship is still amazing. It is one of the most rewarding and educational experiences I've ever had. Tiring..but so awesome.

Raine, Glad you checked. Pharmacys can and do make mistakes and that is why you always check. Wonder if the person that was supposed to get Synthroid got your meds . Was it just two labels misplaced? When I worked with meds at the group home the drugest and I had a good relationship and I called quite often. The decimal point caused more than a few problems. GOOD FOR YOU checking. New venders change pills shape and size and you have to check. Ramblings is back. Think of you often keep in touch.

That is terrible. Pharmacies have to be careful. Something very similar happen to a friend of my an it landed her husband up in the hospital. I know it is a terrible thing to say I'm losing faith in the health care system. And I was a nurse for over 25 years. I just have seen too many errors recently. I am very glad you were alert and found the mistake!
