Scammers

I got a phone call just now. It was from a place called "winners international" and they said they had a package for me. This package is supposed to contain 7.5 million dollars and all I have to do is send them $150 shipping and handling. Do people actually fall for this?

Oddly enough, I've just received an email from Prince Olumuyiwah Obasanjo, a Nigerian gentleman... Do you think that perhaps his need for a bank account in which to lodge several million dollars of embezzled oil revenue might not be entirely legitimate!!?

Wow, that's even better than the time this guy called to tell me I'd won a new Cadillac and all I had to do was send $1500 to cover the taxes!
I'm trying to relocate and was looking for rent to own properties in the area I want to relocate to. This one company will send you listings--if you just sign up for their $29 a month credit reporting service. I would have laughed if I weren't so stressed out.

working for a bank I know all too well that many people fall for things like this. they are so desparate to get the big money they ignore the warning signs that its a scam. very sad sometimes. Even worse when its an elderly person or someone who is not 100% there

And why is it that my HSBC bank account keeps getting compromised, such that the bank's online security has to send me emails? When I remember opening an account with HSBC, I'll follow that up.

Scary how easily our personal information can be obtained.
